the great state of colorado - april 2015
made the treak up to denver again this april - i believe my third or fourth april in a row now. denver is a great town. two omaha turned denver friends were gracious enough to host us and show us around their neighborhood. we were so close to downtown denver we could walk to it. i feel so grateful - thank you two so much for your kind hearts. you are so appreciated!
KP and me also took the drive up to estes park and stayed in a cabin (with a hotub!!) just outside of rocky mountain national park to take advantage of some good weather hiking - with one quick jaunt around dusk up to the top of a mountain and then back down again with another hike set for the morning. the next day we ventured towards fern lake and the falls - as you got up and up the trails were compact and slick with snow from a storm that passed through a couple days earlier. it made the hike feel what some may call "exhilarating" while i would call it "um yeah no." it was wonderful seeing and experiencing the mountains like that though - i never have before.
the rest of the trip was made up of great dinners, long talks with old and new friends, wonderful cocktails and some interesting bar excursions, a rock show (post coming after this one), the botanical gardens and my pilgrimage to mecca - IKEA. denvaah! what a town!
