our trip to san diego, california.
california california - i don't think i've ever loved a state like i love you. i've only visited you once before when i was very young, too young to remember much about it - but i can see why my best friend kadiy and her husband mike chose you out of anywhere else to be. and i am so grateful to them for spending time with us in such a breathtaking place. it's been so long since i've seen the ocean, felt the pull of its tide, and wondered what was far out there past it all. kyle said it right when he called it awe-inspiring to look out onto it.
the people in san diego were wonderful, quirky and always smiling - they treated you just like a friend. and though it rained half the time we were there, even the rain felt unreal - "california, even when it's raining it's still so goddamn gorgeous."
and after the rain had it's way, everything around us gushed green and felt refreshed - something that takes nebraska months of raining to do.
my favorite things were the beach, the food, hanging with kadiy and mike, and especially - having kyle there with me for it all. kyle's favorite things were luigi's pizza at the beach (our skateboarder-dude-waiter exclaimed "FANTASTICO" when he took our order), the surf park on our last day, and lil pup.
i can't wait to visit again. a big thank you to kadiy and mike for letting us stay with them, showing us the ropes, and as always - telling it just like it is. you two are some of the most unique and down to earth people i have ever met or will ever meet, and i feel so thankful to call you guys friends. kadiy took some rad photos of us, some of which are intermixed here. kyle also took a lot of really amazing photos, also intermixed. until we meet again california!
