denver, colorado

by august i will have flown more in the past year than i have in my entire life. to be honest, i hate flying. it stresses me out: going through security, take-off, flying on a chair IN THE SKY - honestly the only part i actually like is landing. back on solid ground - arriving at the destination. this time it was denver.

corrie and i booked tickets to denver for one important reason - the knife was playing at the fillmore.  THE KNIFE was playing in the united states, within reasonable distance to omaha. we had to go. and it was an amazing show - we got in line at the right time and were only three people from the stage when the show started. we joked and danced with everyone around us, as the knife's troop called us to dance with them. the show was not what i expected, which didn't surprise me. but i loved it. i don't know if i will ever see another show like it. if you ever have the opportunity to see them live, do it.

fortunately for us, we have some seriously solid friends in denver who were willing to not only put us up for five days & introduce us to their hilarious friends, but also show us around the city and take us out to amazing restaurants. to rob & joe - thank you so much. you are wonderful, and we are lucky to know you.

the last full day we were there - earth day - corrie and i rented a 2014 red beetle ("go huskers dude!") which happened upon us by accident, the car i mean, but it was actually really cool and corrie zipped us straight up to the mountains. from there we hiked, trying our best not to stumble up the steep trails - and i would randomly exclaim to her "ERF DAY GET ONE WIT DA ERF" as we huffed and laughed. we came down from the mountains sore and a little bruised, but happy!

denver is a great town, everyone we talked with was interesting, down to earth, and welcoming. i can't wait to go back. thank you so much again to rob and joe, and also to corrie - who stuck with me the whole time. her steps are a little longer than mine, because she's so friggin tall, but i kept up for the most part. love you girl!
